Equipment for automatic calibration of radiometric testing station
Creators
Description
A facility is presented for automatic calibration of mine radiometric testing units, especially in spatially limited applications. At present a zero car standard is used, i.e., a mine car filled with non-radioactive rock, and a mine car standard filled with ore of known metal content. The procedure requires time- and labour-demanding manuel handling of calibration standards. Demanding handling also prevents technical rationalization of horizontal mine transport. The designed facility consists of a zero standard, a tubular ore standard and a combined auxiliary shielding which are slidably mounted in a frame together with a directional detection unit. The equipment may be operated automatically using a prepared programme. It will considerably speed up calibration with more accurate measurement and reduced costs. (Pu)
