Description
Electron spin resonance measurements of bone fragments from the hominid cranium discovered in 1960 and of the calcite encrustation which surrounded the skull, indicate that the age of this Petralona hominid lies between 160,000 and 240,000 yr. It is also shown, by trace element analysis, that the composition of the calcite encrustation is the same as that of the very top of the travertine floor. (U.K.)
