Studies of sorption and migration of radioactive iodine on geological materials
- 1. Fudan Univ., Shanghai, SH (China). Dept. of Nuclear Science
Description
Both batch technique and column migration are used to investigate the sorption and migration behaviours of radioactive iodide and iodate on granite, tuff and violet shale, with 131I as a tracer. Migration velocity of iodide and iodate in column filled with geological materials is almost the same as that of the underground water front. The sorption ratio of iodide and iodate on these geological samples has been determined. The results show that there is no sorption or little sorption for I- and IO3- on various investigated rock samples. The results of batch technique agree with those of column migration experiment within the error limits
