On electrochemical mechanism of chemical reduction of metals

  • 1. Novocherkasskij Politekhnicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

The effect has been studied of pH, KBH4 and NiSO4 concentration, and electrolyte temperature (tsub(e)) on polarization curves, stationary potential, and reduction currents. The kinetics of chemical recipitation of nickel with borohydride has been considered on the basis of experimental data and the proposed mechanism of the process. It has been shown that the rate of the anodic process under diferent conditions is determined by the reaction of borohydride oxidation whereas the rate of cathodic process - by water reduction (tsub(e) = 20 deg C), chemical reaction of atomic hydrogen molization (t = 80 deg), or by stepwise reduction of nickel ions (t=80 deg)
