Deadtime measurement and associated statistical uncertainty by means of a two-detector paired-source method

  • 1. National Accelerator Centre, Faure (South Africa)

Description

A brief description of the two-detector paired-source method for determining the deadtime of a counting system is given. A very simple formula for accurately estimating the statistical uncertainty of the deadtime value is derived. The error formula has been carefully checked against experimental measurements. (author)
