Landfill mining to transform a former dump into usable land. Ground-breaking gas vapour investigation, remediation and validation

The Narellan community in Western Sydney is undergoing significant urban renewal and expansion. The Elyard Gardens site will one day be a new vibrant place in the local community. Yet before it can be revitalised, it's less than vibrant history which included an extractive quarry, a brick pit and an uncontrolled landfill must first be managed. Following nearly 2 years of remediation a further year of landfill gas monitoring, the site is nearing a successful site audit statement. (author)
