Observations on WASP-III. Implementation and use
- 1. Argonne National Lab., IL (USA)
- 2. Biuro Studiow i Projektow 'Energoprojekt', Warsaw (Poland)
Description
Since 1978, Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) has conducted seven training courses in expansion planning of electrical generating systems for the International Atomic Energy Agency. These courses feature the use of the Wien Automatic System Planning Package (WASP-III), a computer model for determining the long-run, least-cost expansion plan for the generating system. As a result of these experiences and other implementations and applications of WASP-III, techniques to help in the implementation and use of WASP have been developed. These include procedures to help with file handling and technical insights that help avoid some common problems. In addition, several suggestions for improvements in the next WASP version have been listed. (author)
