Epitaxial growth of artificial ferrites at the atomic scale

Description

Ferrite films were artificially grown on (1 1 1) and (1 0 0) magnesium oxide (MgO) single-crystal substrate by laser ablation deposition. One atomic layer at a time was deposited. The films exhibited spinel structure as shown by X-ray diffraction measurements with nominal composition MnFe2O4. The films grown on (1 1 1) and (1 0 0) substrates showed different magneto-crystalline anisotropy field as measured by vibrating sample magnetometer and ferromagnetic resonance
