159Er→159Ho radioactive decay

Description

The 159Er→159Ho decay has been studied. The 159Er source was produced in deep spallation of tantalium by high energy protons. Spectra of γ quanta, of internal conversion electrons (ICE) and positrons, following the 159Er decay, have been studied. The spectra of γ quanta and γγ coincidences have been measured by Ge(Li) detectors of different sizes. The ICE spectrum was measured by a thoroidal β-spectrometer in the range from 10 to 300 keV. The positron spectrum of 159Er was measured by the β-spectrometer with a Si(Li) detector placed in a uniform magnetic field, and by a thoroidal β-spectrometer. Identification of lines observed in the 159→159Ho, 159Ho→159Dy and 159Tm→159Er decays was performed by the combined analysis of data obtained and the data published elsewhere. The set of γ lines, ascribed to 159Er, their energies and intensities, data on γγ coincidences and conversion electrons are given in a tabulated form. The data obtained on γ spectra, the ICE, positrons and γγ coincidences are used for the construction of the 159Er→159Ho decay scheme
