Description
We shall detail in a first part the physical motivation of relativistic approaches by investigating the underlying elementary mechanisms. The second part will be devoted to the understanding of nuclear matter and finite nuclei in these approaches. We shall see, in particular, how one can easily derive an effective interaction of Skyrme type from these relativistic approaches. We shall discuss, in the third part, some recent results obtained in nuclear structure. (author)
