A new three generation model in (2, 0) heterotic string compactifications
Description
The number of generations is computed in the (2, 0) nonlinear sigma model of the E8xE'8 heterotic string by using the family index theorem. Three generations of quarks/leptons with the gauge group SO(10) are realized for a vast class of multiply connected six-dimensional compact manifolds. (orig.)
