Determination of the lower levels of Np4= spectra in NpOS from magnetic susceptibility data

Description
It is shown that crystal field theory permits, on one hand, to explain behaviour of magnetic susceptibility of neptiuium oxysulfide in paramagnetic phase, on the other hand, to determine the values of mixing factors for the wave functions of the main and first excited doublets, and also to estimate the value of energy gap between the doublets
