Description

Complex brain aneurysms with wide neck remain particularly challenge for endovascular and neurosurgical treatment even today. Remodeling balloons are used to assist in endovascular coiling of brain aneurysms. This kind of technique is applicable to patients with ruptured aneurysms where antithrombotic therapy prior to placement of the stent is not recommended, or where the anatomy of the vessels does not allow - this procedure is an alternative to stent-assisted coiling. We evaluated our experience with balloon-assisted coiling (BAC) in an attempt to determine whether this technique is suitable for such wide neck ruptured brain aneurysms.
