Hydromagnetic structure of interplanetary stream from powerful flare of August 4, 1972

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Zemnogo Magnetizma, Ionosfery i Rasprostraneniya Radiovoln

Description

The magnetic measurements of the interplanetary flux from the solar flare on the 2.8.1972 carried out on the ''Prognoz-2'' and ''Prognoz'' satellites have been analyzed. A characteristic structure of the flux has been revealed: the head shock layer, ''magnetic'' region and the region of the flare plasma. The head shock layer has been detected according to the magnetic field jump from approximately 30 to approximately 130 Oe on the ''Prognoz'' at 20 hr 53 min +- 1 min of IT. The ''magnetic'' region has been detected on the ''Prognoz''-2 in the periods from 23 hr 08 min +- 1 min to 3 hr 12 min +-1 min of IT and from 4 hr 41 min and further along the region. In the range of 3 hr 12 min- 4 hr 41 min of IT the ''Prognoz-2'' crossed twice the front of the flare plasma region
