Dual-spaced epithermal neutron detector porosity logging
Description
A method is described for measuring the porosity of earth formations in the vicinity of a well borehole comprising the steps of: 1) irradiating the earth formations in the vicinity of the borehole with fast neutrons from a relatively high intensity neutron source; 2) detecting the epithermal neutron populations at different first and second distances from the source in the borehole; and 3) combining the epithermal neutron population measurements made at the two different distances to derive an indication of formation porosity.
