Process for improving the load factor of an electricity generating power station

Description

A description is given of a process for improving the load factor of an electricity generating power station feeding a supply network in which all or part of the power not required by the network during off-peak hours is used for producing hydrogen which is then stored. The stored hydrogen is then burned and the heat generated is employed for superheating the steam generated by the nuclear reactor of the power plant. This combustion is carried out permanently. The hydrogen is produced by water electrolysis. The oxygen also produced in this manner is used as a comburent in the combustion of the hydrogen. The reactor is of the pressurized water type

Abstract (French)

On presente un procede d'amelioration du facteur de charge d'une centrale nucleaire electrogene alimentant un reseau de distribution, dans lequel, pendant les heures creuses des besoins du reseau, on utilise tout ou partie de la puissance non demandee par le reseau pour produire de l'hydrogene qui est ensuite stocke. On effectue ensuite la combustion de l'hydrogene stocke et on utilise la chaleur produite pour surchauffer la vapeur produite par le reacteur nucleaire de la centrale. Cette combustion est effectuee en permanence. On produit l'hydrogene par electrolyse de l'eau. On utilise l'oxygene produit par electrolyse comme comburant dans la combustion de l'hydrogene. Le reacteur est du type a eau pressurisee
