Development of Power System for Medium Energy Accelerator
Description
The power supply system for 100MeV accelerator has been designed and one set of high voltage power supply was development. The requirements of the high voltage power supply are 100kV, 20A, < 20J. As a result of comparing various types of power supply, AC controller with SCR was selected and semiconductor opening switch was designed to limit the load arc energy. The Mod. anode power supply consisted of voltage dividing resistors and tetrode. Through the circuit analysis, the capacity of resistors and tetrode has been optimized. Two types of commercially available switching power supply were tested for klystron electromagnet, and it was determined that power supply with series connected module could meet the requirement. A full bridge converter was designed and developed for DTL quadrupole manget power supply. Those have been tested and now being operated. One set of high voltage power supply was developed and its components tested. The thyristor panel was tested up to 800A to validate the SCR firing. A switching test and arc test of the HVS tank were also carried out. The test results showed that the components well satisfied the requirements. The high voltage power supply will be used as a klystron power supply for 100MeV accelerator
