Description

In this paper we report on g-factor measurements for the isomeric states in 85,86 Y with the following characteristics: 85 Y : E=266 KeV, Iπ = 5/2-, T1/2 = 178 ns and 86 Y : E= 302 KeV, Iπ (6-), T1/2 = 125 ns. The experiments were performed at the Bucharest cyclotron by using the pulsed beam TDPAD method. The states were simultaneously excited via the 85 Rb(3 He, 3 n) 85 Y and 85 Rb(3 He, 2 n) 86 Y reactions by bombarding a thick target of isotopically enriched 85 Rb Cl having a cubic crystalline structure with a pulsed beam of 30 MeV 3 He. In the case of 86 Y measurements were also performed via the 86 Sr(p,n) reaction at Ep = 13.6 MeV by using a thick target of 86 Sr CO3. The g-factor of the 5/2- state in 85 Y has been determined as g +0.542(9) and on the basis of this g-factor, the isomeric state is interpreted as a proton f5/2 single-particle state. The measured g-factor of the isomeric state in the odd-odd 86 Y nucleus, g = -0.078(7), indicates for this state a configuration involving a f5/2 proton state coupled with a g9/2 neutron state.
