Description
Increased levels of morphological changes in carp young fishes reared in the fish farm located in the area with cesium 137 contamination density from 1 to 5 Ci/km2 (37 - 185 kBq/m2) were revealed. Increased frequency of morphological changes occurrence was observed in experimental ponds with specific gamma-activity of their bottom. Sediments from 801 to 3235 Bq/kg in 1988-1990 compared to morphological changes in fish from the control ones (specific gamma-activity of bottom sediments from 52 to 307 Bq/kg). Formation of the regression function for the whole body of evidence over 1988 and 1990 has shown that Y (frequency of fish morphological changes) depends on X (fish gamma-activity) in the following way Y=1,081*X0,506. So, an increased amount of fish with morphological malformations in radiation contaminated ponds is due to chronic influence of raised radiation background
