Measurements of the energy dependence of the cross section of 245Cm fission by fast neutrons
Description
The function σ/sub f/245/sub Cm/(E/sub n/) was studied with quasimonochromatic neutrons from an electrostatic proton accelerator in the T(p,n) reaction. The curium 245 fission cross section was measured with flight-time technique using a nuclear explosion as a pulsed neutron source. The function σ/sub f/245/sub Cm/(E/sub n/) was measured relative to the cross section of uranium 235 fission. Fission fragments were recorded by polycarbonate dielectric track detectors. As a result of the measurements a correction (circa 1.5%) for the fission of even curium isotopes in the curium 245 layer was introduced
