В Республике Беларусь территория лесного фонда, отнесенная к зонам радиоактивного загрязнения, составляет 1701,3 тыс. га, или 18,0 % от общей площади лесного фонда. Основная доля загрязненных радионуклидами лесов находится в ведении Министерства лесного хозяйства Республики Беларусь (84 %) и Департамента по ликвидации последствий катастрофы на Чернобыльской АЭС (12,7 %).
