A characteristics testing of the transformer oil at the BATAN building 72

A characteristics testing of the transformer oil at the BATAN building 72 has been carried out. Transformer is one of the tools in supporting the availability of electricity. The task is to change a high voltage into a lower voltage and vice versa. To maintain the reliability and extend the life of the transformer, several actions are required, including testing of transformer oil which aims to determine the feasibility/qualified as a coolant and insulation in transformers. In fact the transformer is often to be considered merely as a tool that only to be remembered and required if at the time the electricity is black out so that in terms of its maintenance program is often neglected and abandoned. The monitoring and maintenance of the transformer oil quality are imperative to guarantee the reliability of its operation. Thus the life of the transformer will be expected to reach ~40 years and the transformer oil which has excellent quality will be expected the same to the lifetime of the transformer. (author)
