Radiation doses from an (hypothetical) accident at the R2-reactor
Description
Additional individual radiation doses from atmospheric emissions at a hypothetical severe accident in the R2-reactor are estimated using the LENA 95 gaussian dispersion model. Three cases were studied: a base scenario where 20% of the core has suffered meltdown before the reactor becomes subcritical and 30% of the inventory is exposed to the reactor water. The second scenario is identical to the first, except that the iodine scrubber is supposed not to be working. In the third scenario, the doors to the reactor hall are supposed to be open. Different weather situations were considered, and the most negative case was chosen together with 'average' weather. Additional doses were calculated for exposure from the plume, external exposure from fallout on the ground and internal exposure from inhaled activity
