Bounds on average multiplicity and transverse momentum in high-energy hadron collision

Description
Using the energy conservation law and the experimental fact that the single-particle distribution function in high-energy inclusive reaction a + b →c + X (c ≠a, b) is bounded as Ec ((d3σc)/(dpc3)) < const (Ac/σin) 2 log s, Ac being a constant or possibly a function of s. For the reactions a + b →(a or b) + X, similar inequalities are also derived by taking into account the diffraction peak. These bounds become severe, if a scaling is assumed. A comparison with recent high-energy data is made.
