Description
A study was made of the effect of 2-amino-2-thiazolin (2-AT), 2-amino-5,6-dihydro-4-n 1,3-thiazine (2-ADT), S-(2-amino-ethyl) isothiourea (AET) and mercaptoethylamine (MEA) on radiation degradation on DNA in solutions. Equimolar concentrations of 2-AT and 2-ADT are equally effective but inferior to AET and MEA. The protective efficiency increases with radiation dose. It was shown that radiation causes formation of links between the protective agent and DNA. The authors discuss the idea of the role played by the links in the radioprotective effect on DNA
