Description
A new modified structure of staggered array undulator (SAU) has been proposed, in which the poles of the undulator are staggered in the longitudinal direction and vertically magnetized magnets fill in the interspaces between poles. When the longitudinal magnetic field of the solenoid passes through the undulator, a periodic magnetic field of undulator is generated. Compared to the conventional staggered array undulator, this kind of SAU has a higher peak field strength. The peak field strength of the undulator can be enhanced by more than 20%. The effect of tilting the magnetization direction on the peak field strength is discussed.
