Description
A simple method to measure tritium in the seawater was studied. Fifty mililiters of seawater was emulsified directly with the same volume of a liquid scintillator in a 100 ml vial. Samples were measured by the low background liquid scintillation counter; reliability of the method was examined. This report describes characteristics of this apparatus and the concentration of tritium in the seawater off Tokai-mura. By this method, a minimum detectable activity for tritiated water was about 20 pCi/l of seawater. (author)
