The influence of radiation-induced, chemical and thermal modification on the properties of carbon fibrous materials

Description

A possibility of purposeful change in the properties of carbon fibrous materials (CFM) by their thermal, chemical and radiation-induced modifying has been studied. CFM were irradiated in water, in NaOH solutions and in the air in the range of 60Co gamma radiation from 100 to 900 Mrad at a dose rate of 10-15 Gy/s. It proved possible to regulate porous structure of CFM, chemical nature of their surface, conductivity, reducing, sorption, ion-exchange and catalytic properties. 14 refs., 3 figs., 2 tabs
