Secondary particle production in collisions in relativistic nuclei

  • 1. Leningrad Nuclear Physics Institute, USSR Academy of Sciences (USSR)

Description

Averaged and central collisions between high energy nuclei are studied using the multiple scattering model. The quark--gluon string model is used to calculate the inclusive spectra and mean multiplicities of various secondary particles. The results are compared to those obtained using a simplified model in which the incident nucleus is represented as a set of noninteracting nucleons. Predictions are given for collisions of 16O and 32S nuclei with various targets at an energy of 200 GeV per nucleon
