Evaluation of possibilities of using gamma quanta sources for gold content determination in rocks under conditions of natural occurrence

Description

A comparative analysis of the possibilities of two procedures for gamma-activation analysis for gold according to the reaction of 197Au (γγsup(')) sup(197m)Au under natural rock conditions is carried out: an analysis at separate points of the section and continuous activation analysis in motion. The intensity of the activation gamma radiation of sup(197m)Au at the point of maximum with a 15 deg angle of incidence of the beam of bremmstrahlung gamma quanta on the surface of the medium and with the use of a 40x80 mm NaI(Tl) detector. The requirements for the current of a gamma quantum generator ensuring a maximum sensitivity of gamma-activation determination of the gold content in the rock up to 10-4 % are formulated for the analysis procedures discussed proceeding from the sensitivity criterion
