Mutability of soft and durum wheat varieties
Description
Fast neutrons, γ ray, X-ray, sodium azide and diethyl sulphate were studied for their effect on tetraploid and hexaploid wheat varieties. The frequency of chromosome aberrations, chlorophyll and visible mutations was determined. The tetraploid wheat varieties had a higher frequency of chlorophyll mutations than the hexaploid ones. But the frequency of chromosome aberrations and of the viable visible mutations was considerably higher in the hexaploid varieties. 6 refs. (Author)
