Linear polarization of continuum gamma rays following heavy-ion reactions

Description

Linear polarization of continuum gamma rays in 156Er and 102Pd was studied using heavy ion reactions, and results are tabulated. The variation of the continuum polarization as a function of energy range in 102Pd is not completely understood. The results also do not agree with theoretical and experimentally based predictions that the continuum should be mainly stretched E2 transitions. Suggestions for further work are given.
