Over 100 powerplant managers and representatives from other industry segments exchanged ideas and opinions at Power magazine's Fifth Powerplant O and M Symposium, ''Managing the Powerplant in a Competitive Environment,'' held June 12--14 in Richmond, VA. Attendees may have represented both utility and independent power facilities, but it was clear from the dialogue that, regardless of ownership, most felt that their plants would have to operate as independent businesses, implicitly if not directly
