A revised compilation of sorption coefficients for use in geosphere models in performance assessments of used fuel disposal in granitic environments
Description
This compilation of sorption data supersedes an earlier one used in the 1990 case study of a hypothetical used fuel disposal vault at a depth of 500 m in the Lac du Bonnet batholith. Since 1990, when the previous database was 'frozen', research into the sorption behaviour of selected radionuclides on a variety of primary and secondary minerals relevant to granitic environments has continued as part of the Nuclear Fuel Waste Management Program (NFWMP) in Canada as well as in other national programs on low, intermediate, and high level radioactive waste disposal. The purpose of the present compilation is, therefore, to incorporate data generated in the NFWMP and data published in the literature since 1990 into an updated database that can be used in performance and safety assessments for disposal of radioactive wastes in granitic rock formations.
