Description

The scientific relevance of the measurement of the sub MeV and MeV solar neutrinos in Borexino is discussed and the results already obtained about the 7Be and 8B neutrinos are reviewed. Borexino is confirming the LMA-MSW solution of the neutrino oscillation scenario and it is providing novel data about the neutrino survival probability as a function of the neutrino energy. Further configuration of the LMA scenario is provided by the absence of a day-night symmetry in the 7Be signal: a preliminary result is here discussed. A first calibration compain aiming to reduce the measurement errors related to the fiducial volume determination and to the detector response has been completed. Future perspectives of Borexino include a 7Be rate measurement with few percent precision, the measurement of additional components of the solar neutrinos spectrum (CNO, PEP), the detection of geo-neutrinos and supernova signals.
