Electromagnetic outlet temperature regulator for LMFBR breeder sub-assemblies

  • 1. UKAEA, Risley, Warrington, Engl

Description

An electromagnetic sodium flow break, energized by permanent magnets, incorporates in its magnetic circuit a NiFe alloy, selected for its Curie point which imparts a temperature-dependent braking function in the desired region. Outlet temperature variations due to burn-up are reduced by a factor of up to 3, virtually eliminating thermal striping. 5 refs
