Mid term summary report (2013 - 2020). Cooperation between the International Atomic Energy Agency and Fukushima Prefecture. Radiation monitoring and remediation. Temporary translation
Description
Following the accident at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in March 2011, mutual cooperations between the Fukushima Prefecture and the IAEA have been made under the Memorandum and Arrangements in regard to radiation monitoring, remediation, decontamination and human health, and will continue until 2022. The main role of the IAEA is the provision of effective technical assistance and support based on international experience and best practices. This report summarizes the current status and progress made in the activities conducted under the Practical Arrangements from 2013 through Spring 2020. Four of the main topics are 1) long term monitoring of radioactive material in forests and associated countermeasures, 2) monitoring of radioactive material and associated remediation and decontamination in terrestrial and aquatic environments 3) management of waste from remediation activities, and 4) information dissemination for the public in Fukushima Prefecture.
