Track reconstruction--from bubble chambers to the LHC

Description

A review of some methods used for the reconstruction of tracks of charged particles in high-energy physics tracking detectors is given. The intention of the review is neither to be exhaustive nor to give detailed explanations of algorithms, but rather to put emphasis on long-term evolutions and trends. Some focus is also on recent developments, as well as on the author's personal opinion about possible future trends in the field of track reconstruction
