Texture of rolling and recrystallization of terbium

  • 1. Ural'skij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Sverdlovsk (Russian Federation)

Description

X-Ray pole figure method was used for investigation into cold rolling texture and recrystallization on samples of pure and commercial terbium. It was revealed that slip over (0001)[1120] system was the main deformation mechanism in terbium. Recrystallization annealing at 600 deg C for 30 min did not change the character of texture with (0001)[0101] basic component. Presence of basic texture as in cold rolled so in annealed samples resulted in isotropy of physical and mechanical properties in the plane of rolling and in their sharp variation in the perpendicular direction. Impurities were found to make basic slip diffucult and to reduce by half the intensity of basic texture component, not affecting the others
