Cold thermal neutron radiography experiment by CCD camera at primary flight tube of TRIGA MARK II research reactor

  • 1. Malaysian Institute for Nuclear Technology Research MINT, Bangi (Malaysia). Materials Technology Group

Description

This paper describes on the cold thermal neutron radiography experiment using charge coupled device camera conducted at MINT TRIGA MARK II Research reactor. The test has been performed on filtered and reflected neutrons through cooled poly-crystals Beryllium filter and Highly Oriented Purity Germanium (HOPG). The aim of this test was to check weather the CCD camera, image grabber and image acquisition could plays their roles in the cold neutron radiography imaging technique. The exposure has been made on the Gadolinium foil in order to measure the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) of the system. The result obtained from analysis shows the system has a reasonable and significant resolution
