Physicochemical processes on solid-liquid metal interface

Description

Solution of solid metals in liquid aluminium was investigated at temperatures of 700 to 900 deg C. Solubility of titanium, vanadium, chromium, iron, cobalt and nickel was studied on polycrystals while niobium, molybdenum, tantalum and tungsten were used as variously directed monocrystals. Zirconium solubility was investigated on ZrAl2 intermetallic specimens. A conclusion was made on diffusion mechanism of transition metal solution in liquid aluminium. Kinetics of intermetallic layer formation on solid/liquid metal interface was under consideration
