UV-VIS spectrophotometric study on third phase formation in DHDECPM -dodecane-HNO3/UO2(NO3)2 system

Description
Absorption spectra of U(VI) containing DHDECMP(dihexyl-N,N-diethyl carbamyl methylene phosphonate) phase at various stages of third phase were studied. It was observed that the UV VIS absorption spectrum of the DHDECMP-U(VI) complex of heavy phase after third phase formation is similar to the spectra of the complex before third phase formation indicating that the U(VI) complex in both phases may be UO2(NO3)2.2DHDECMP. Also the spectra of dodecane phase after third phase was compared with that of original dodecane. (author)
