District heating and cooling networks - Key figures, analyses and evolution. Results of the annual survey - 2021 edition
Description
The soaring price of fossil fuels, which is having a severe impact on households, public bodies and businesses, calls for responses that accelerate the energy transition, stimulate economic growth and remedy the fuel poverty of households. France's 833 district heating networks achieve this synthesis by delivering virtuous, low-carbon heat at a competitive, stable price to local communities. Heating and cooling networks are virtuous solutions for achieving a successful energy transition, as they have the capacity to make the most of all local renewable and recovered energies (RE and R) to supply green, low-carbon heat. In 2020, heating networks also reached an important milestone, with a 60.5% RE and R rate
