Description
The Department of Energy Radiological Control Manual (RCM) addresses the requirements for issuing personnel dosimetry in Part 1, External Dosimetry, Section 511, Requirements. As in other areas of the RCM, there is an attempt to establish specific requirements for issuance of personnel dosimetry, but there is also considerable leeway based on some select phrases. Martin Marietta Energy Systems convened a working group of external dosimetry professionals to review several scenarios for issuance criteria and then adopted a final criteria after each scenario was evaluated against a standardized set of risk elements. Finally, recommended changes to Article 511 will be presented
