Method of processing ion exchange resins in nuclear power plants

Description

Purpose: To decrease the waste amounts of ion exchange resins exhausted in the condensate desalinator in BWR type reactors and facilitate the procession. Method: Ion exchange resins exhausted in a condensate desalinator that can no more satisfy a predetermined allowable standard are regenerated in a regenerator and then transported into a primary storage tank. The stored ion exchange resins are supplied to the desalinator in a radioactive liquid wastes processing system. Since the allowable standard for the ion exchange resin to be used in the radioactive liquid wastes processing system is less severe than the standard in the condensate desalinator, even those ion exchange resins having been exhausted in the condensate desalinator can be used satisfactorily in the radioactive liquid wastes processing system. Then, the ion exchange resins that can no more be used in the radioactive liquid wastes processing system are stored in a secondary storage tank and then subjected to permanent procession.
