Superconductivity
Description
This AGF publication outlines the applications of superconductivity today, from particle accelerators for fundamental research in physics to modern diagnostic equipment in the medical field. Further potential applications are in energy engineering and in the information technology, especially for the new generation of superconductors. Das AGF-Themenheft 'Supraleitung' berichtet ueber die verschiedenen Anwendungen, welche die Supraleitung bereits heute findet, vom Einsatz in Beschleunigern fuer die physikalische Grundlagenforschung bis zur Verwendung in modernen Geraeten der medizinischen Diagnostik. Es werden ebenso Ausblicke auf Anwendungsmoeglichkeiten, etwa in der Energietechnik oder der Informationstechnologie gegeben, wobei besonders die Chancen durch die neuen Supraleiter gestiegen sind. Die Palette der Themen wird abgerundet durch eine kurze Darstellung der materialtechnischen Prinzipien der Supraleiter und der Geschichte ihrer Entdeckung. (orig.)Additional details
