Description

The authors managed to get quantitative evaluation of dosimetric advantages of bremsstrahlung and electron beams (used independently and in combination with 60Co radiation) compared to well-established methods of telecobalt therapy of Hodgkin disease and oral cavity tumors. These advantages (with certain individual anatomic characteristics) are as follows. In the therapy of Hodgkin disease exposure of the vertebral column decreases and a dose in the tracheal bifurcation increases (by more than 20%), or the level of exposure of the subcutaneous connective tissue decreases (by more than 80%). The therapy of tumors of the lateral regions of the oral cavity is characterized by a decrease (by 30%) in the exposure level of the mucous membrane, and an increase (by 10%) in the uniformity of tumor dose distribution
