Low threshold measurement of intermediate mass fragment emission from the reaction 84Kr+197Au at E/A = 35,55, and 70 MeV

Description

Intermediate mass fragments (IMF:Z≥3) emitted from 84Kr + 197An reactions, at E/A 35, 55, and 70 MeV, have been measured using low threshold, high resolution ion chamber-Si-CsI(Tl) telescopes in conjunction with the MSU Miniball-Washington University Miniwall 4π detector system. The observed charged particle multiplicity, N is used as a measure of impact parameter. The energy spectra of IMFs detected as backward angles show a lowering of the Coulomb barrier with decreasing impact parameter
