C119 and C120O2: new fullerene derivatives

Description

We investigated the thermolysis of C120O in the temperature range 300-600 C and characterized the products by HPLC and MALDI-TOF MS. At temperatures 300-400 C the preferable formation of C60 oligomeric oxides was detected. The structures of two C120O2 isomers were established. At temperatures 500 C and higher we observed the formation of species with modified cage structure, like e.g. C119. We produced and established the structure of this interesting all-carbon compound.
