Description
Recoil sup(34m)Cl atoms do not abstract an H atom from CHCl3 in a reactive cage, as was observed for other hydrocarbons. Recombination reactions between recoil sup(34m)Cl and 38Cl atoms and CFCl2 radicals in a reactive cage in liquid CFCl3 lead to high yields of labelled CFCl3, whereas with 18F recoil atoms such cage reactions seem to be less important. 18F and sup(34m)Cl were produced by the 19F(n,2n)18F and 35Cl(n,2n)sup(34m)Cl nuclear reactions and 38Cl was produced by the 37Cl(n,γ)38Cl nuclear reaction.
